Flirting, beheading, boiling in oil – and it's a comedy! Asbury Memorial Theatre is back this March with perhaps the best and looniest of all the Gilbert & Sullivan’s operettas. THE MIKADO pokes glorious fun at English sensibilities with a distinctly Japanese flair. Where else can you see Georgian men dressed in Kimonos?
Asbury Memorial Theatre brought Gilbert & Sullivan’s THE PIRATES OF PENZANCE to life with sold-out crowds in March 2010 in the newly renovated sanctuary and stage. Savannah will be treated to six performances of THE MIKADO in March 2011. Local author and actor Jonathan Rabb returns to the AMT stage starring as Koko, the Lord High Executioner, and Billy Hester will direct the show.
THE MIKADO will run March 4, 5, 6, 11, 12 and 13 at Asbury Memorial United Methodist Church, 1008 East Henry Street in downtown Savannah. Fridays and Saturdays at 8:00pm, Sundays at 3:00pm.
